Smoking Facts
by Richard Albright, CHt, NLP, CLC

Did you know smoking increases the risks of almost 50 different medical problems? These include all forms of cancers, heart disease, digestive problems, and dementia. Some of these conditions can be FATAL.

Here are some startling facts:
Smokers who smoke more than 25 cigarettes a day have about a 50% chance of being dead by the time they’re 69 years old.

Stop while you are young and cash in on a life expectancy of at least 75 for men and 80 for women.

Heart attacks are a major risk for smokers.

Stop TODAY and your risk will decrease to the same as a non-smoker within three years,
Smoking can affect fertility. The sooner you STOP the better.

Smoking induces wrinkles and other age-related skin changes.

Sex and food will both be better if you – STOP SMOKING. Enjoy both longer.

Smoking increases the chance of impotence because of its effect on the blood supply to vital areas.

Smoking destroys appetite and the enjoyment of food because it affects both taste and smell.
Smoking costs money.

A pack a day habit can cost up to $1,000 a year.

STOP NOW and save lots of money for that much needed vacation or treat yourself to something nice.

Reduce stress. Smoking causes tension at home, work, and at play. Quit smoking and reduce your stress level.

The best time to STOP SMOKING is today because 20 minutes after you quit your pulse rate and blood pressure adjusts to a natural level. Twelve hours after quitting the amount of carbon dioxide in your blood drops to normal. 48 hours later your nerve endings start re-growing, and your ability to smell and taste improve. 2-3 weeks later your risk of a heart attack begins to drop, your circulation improves, and lung function increase up to 40%. One to nine months later coughing and shortness of breath decrease as lung cilia regrows.

One year later your risk of a heart attack is half that of a smoker, 5 years later your risk of a stroke is reduced to half of that of a nonsmoker 5-15 years after quitting and your ling cancer death rate is half that of a smoker’s, and ten years after quitting cancers of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decreases. Fifteen years after quitting your risk of a heart attack is like you never smoker.

ALL of above benefits are forfeited if ONE cigarette a day is smoked. STOP SMOKING and life a better, higher quality of life.
